However, dental implants are a biological process, not just a mechanical one. To help you plan your travel via the Andrade border crossing, here is the honest breakdown of how long you should stay in Algodones based on your procedure.
For a standard single tooth implant in Los Algodones, you should plan for two distinct trips separated by a healing period.
Trip 1 (The Surgical Phase): Plan to stay for 2 to 3 days.
Day 1: Consultation, 3D CT scans, and surgical placement of the titanium post.
Day 2: Post-operative check-up to ensure the site is healing correctly.
Healing Period: You will return home for 4 to 6 months while the implant fuses to your jawbone (osseointegration).
Trip 2 (The Restoration Phase): Plan to stay for 2 to 3 days.
Day 1: We take digital impressions for your final crown.
Day 2/3: Our in-house lab crafts your Zirconia dental crown, and we perform the final fitting.
Full-arch restorations are more complex but often require fewer total trips because we utilize “Immediate Load” protocols.
Trip 1 (Surgery & Temporary Teeth): Plan to stay for 5 to 7 days.
This is a longer stay because we need time to perform the surgery and then custom-mill a fixed temporary bridge in our lab. You will walk out of our clinic with a functional, beautiful smile on this first trip.
Trip 2 (Permanent Final Bridge): Plan to stay for 5 to 7 days.
After 6 months of healing, you return to swap the temporary bridge for your final, high-strength Zirconia or Porcelain bridge. We need this time to ensure the bite and aesthetics are absolutely perfect.
While the timelines above apply to 90% of our patients, certain “dental jobs” require a bit more patience.
Bone Grafting & Sinus Lifts: If you have low bone density, we may need to perform a bone graft or sinus lift before the implant can be placed. In some cases, this can be done the same day as surgery, but in severe cases, it may add an extra day to your first trip for observation.
Extractions: If you have failing teeth that need to be removed, we can often perform “Immediate Placement” where the implant goes into the socket the same day. If there is an infection, however, we may recommend a 2-month healing period after the extraction.
Lab Customization: Because we have an on-site dental lab, we are much faster than US clinics. However, if you are getting complex cosmetic work like veneers along with your implants, an extra day ensures the color matching is flawless.

Stay in Yuma, AZ: Just a 15-minute drive from the border. You can stay in familiar US hotels and simply walk across for your appointments.
Stay in Los Algodones: We often coordinate discounted stays at local hotels like the Hacienda for patients undergoing major All-on-4 dental implants. This is the most convenient option as you are only steps away from the clinic.
